Lighting should not be an afterthought in creating a well appointed room.  It should have the same importance as the color scheme.  Lighting can make rooms look bigger and turn unused areas into useful ones.  To get the most out of light, you will use three types of lighting: general, task, and accent.

Here you see these beautiful glass spheres by Bocci being used as "accent" lighting.  They come in various configurations, so you can customize them to fit your space.

Color is essential for your life.  The colors you love are deep and vital affirmations of who you are.  Bringing those colors into your day and your environment is the ultimate form of self-expression.                                     HOT COLORS FOR SPRING are dust blue, grayed jade, emerald, African violet, nectarine, poppy red, lemon zest, Monaco blue, tangerine, orange cool gray....mixed reds and pinks, yellows and greens, magenta, purple, steel, yellow/green.

Here is another " design tip" for you.  Each room should have a focal point.  If there is nothing in the room already that will give you that "wow" factor, a statement piece in the room such as a fabulous painting, or a sofa in an unusual color, or a fabulous antique piece will give you that focal point.

Isn't this a pretty dining room from one of our projects!  We're having almost Spring-like weather here in Annapolis, MD.  The daffidills are almost ready to bloom!

The cheapest and best way to refresh and rejuvenate a room is with "color".  Walls, accessories, and textiles can add that punch with very little money that will lift your spirits.
