Bookcases provide an opportunity to interject personality into a room.  You can showcase your personal style with organized arrangements of books, collectibles and art.  Use the bookcase as a frame for your possessions and to tell the story of who your are.  The items in and around the bookcase tell the story.  By using family photos in interesting frames and groupings, interesting objects that are meaningful to you, layered in an interesting fashion,  you can tell the story without words.

There are no hard and fast rules to achieving a stunning display. Experimenting by adding or taking away items can achieve the look which is the most pleasing, and it is also a lot of fun to experiment with the arrangement.  Although there are no rules, it's useful to use just three to five objects on a shelf.  Books can also be used as display platforms to get the height of the objects just right.

Using too many colors and contrasts results in a visually disorienting space.  Experiment with SHADES of the SAME COLOR.  This can create interesting effects.
